Research Snapshot: The State of LGBTQIA2S+ Military Family Research in Canada
Highlights from an article discussing a study on LGBTQIA2S+ military families in Canada
Supporting the wellbeing of military families requires a clear understanding of who they are and what they experience, but there is a knowledge gap about LGBTQIA2S+ people and their families among the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). This has the potential to result in discriminatory practices and inadequate support and services for LGBTQIA2S+ military families in Canada.
This study examines the gaps in the current knowledge base in order to support the creation of inclusive programs and policies for LGBTQIA2S+ military families.
This research builds on our growing understanding of the Family Identity component of the Vanier Institute’s Family Diversities and Wellbeing Framework.
