Sustainable Development Goal 7:
Affordable and Clean Energy
Access to clean and affordable energy is an essential component of sustainable development, and it is an important aspect of the Vanier Institute’s vision: a Canada where families engage and thrive in a caring and compassionate society, with a robust and prosperous economy, in an inclusive and vibrant culture, in a safe and sustainable environment.
The development of, and access to, clean energy is a vital part of any sustainable development plan, and it is closely intertwined with many of the other SDG goals, such as Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Life on the Water, Life on Land, and more. But clean energy is only effective if families and their communities can afford it, and ensuring the dual goal of energy that is clean and affordable is a complex undertaking that involves a great deal of innovation and reconceptualization among individuals and organizations across Canada.
