Jane Francis received her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto and is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nutrition and Dietetics at Acadia University (Nova Scotia). As a Registered Dietitian, her research focuses on improving nutrition and reducing health disparities among families negatively impacted by the social determinants of health. She is particularly interested in community-based infant feeding support interventions and family and early childhood food insecurity, with an overall goal to support first food system—those systems that provision food for our youngest citizens, including through breastfeeding, commercial breastmilk substitutes, and complementary foods.
