Research Snapshot: Family Experiences of Detention for Migratory Reasons
Key findings from a study on the experience of migrant families with detention
Over 82 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide in 2020, including 4.1 million asylum seekers. However, in recent years, Western host countries, such as Canada, Australia, and the United States, have implemented restrictive immigration measures targeting irregular migrants.
This study aims to describe the experience of migrant families with detention.
This research builds on our growing understanding of the Family Identity component of the Vanier Institute’s Family Diversities and Wellbeing Framework.
