2021 Census Release on Housing and Indigenous People Canada Now Available

Statistics Canada has published 2021 Census content on housing and Indigenous people.

Today, Statistics Canada released data and analyses from the 2021 Census on housing and on Indigenous peoples.

With many Canadians facing concerns and difficulties about housing costs and availability, this release provides an important update on a variety of indicators related to finances and housing (e.g., affordability and shelter costs, mortgage payments, home values, subsidization). It also covers the qualities of family households, such as housing conditions, size, tenure, and suitability (i.e., crowding).

The housing release includes the following resources:

• To buy or to rent: The housing market continues to be reshaped by several factors as Canadians search for an affordable place to call home (article)
• A first look at shelter costs for households living on reserve using new data from the 2021 Census (article)
• Housing indicators, 2021 Census (data tables)
• Core housing need in Canada (infographic)
• Housing conditions among First Nations people, Métis and Inuit in Canada from the 2021 Census (article)
