On June 4, 2019, the Honourable Jean‑Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, appointed Vanier Institute of the Family CEO Nora Spinks to the Expert Panel on Early Learning and Child Care Data and Research, an advisory group of 14 diverse leaders, practitioners, Indigenous representatives and professionals in early learning and child care (ELCC).

The Expert Panel on Early Learning and Child Care Data and Research will foster evidence-based, evidence-informed and evidence-inspired decision making as panel members engage with policy-makers to identify priority action areas and innovative approaches, and to align the objectives of the work with other priorities of the Government of Canada.

“It is an honour to be appointed to the Expert Panel on Early Learning and Child Care Data and Research,” said Spinks. “I look forward to providing the ‘family lens’ to these important discussions on investing in future generations and working with my Expert Panel colleagues to strengthen our understanding of the ELCC landscape in Canada to support policy development.”

“Helping hard-working, middle-class families provide the best start in life for their children is a top priority for the Government of Canada. That’s why we are creating an expert panel that will help us in our work of filling data and research gaps in early learning and child care. Children are our most precious resource; investing in them today, means investing in Canada’s future.”
