SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Even though Canada is a highly developed country with a large share of the world’s freshwater resources, many families in Canada lack access to this most basic of human needs. This is particularly true for many First Nations families living on reserves, who often live with boil water advisories.

Families need access to clean and safe water in order to thrive and any barriers – whether the result of infrastructure problems or pollution resulting from human activities – can affect their communities and surrounding ecosystems as well. As such, the Clean Water and Sanitation goal aims to ensure access to clean and safe water for all.
