SDG 14: Life Below Water

Regardless of who they are or where they live, most families in Canada rely to some extent on life below water for their sustenance and well-being. Many Canadians take great pride in the natural beauty found from coast to coast to coast – it’s a part of our common heritage. More importantly, life below water plays a significant role in keeping families and communities (and many land animals) fed, and local and regional economies flourishing.

With such a vital role in the well-being of families and communities in Canada, our relationship to life below water is essential to sustainable development efforts. Environmental protection and careful resource management will be crucial in ensuring that families of today and tomorrow continue to benefit from this relationship.
