This year marks Statistics Canada’s centennial, representing 100 years of helping Canadians and researchers from around the world to learn about, explore and better understand the demographic, social and economic trends that shape the country. For the past half-century, the Vanier Institute of the Family has played an important role in analyzing, synthesizing, organizing and mobilizing Statistics Canada data, providing the “family lens” to people who study, serve and support families in Canada.
On December 6 and 7, 2018, the Canadian Institute for Identities and Migration, in collaboration with Statistics Canada and the Vanier Institute of the Family, will be hosting a conference in Ottawa that will explore and discuss the evolution of Canada’s population over the past 100 years and Statistics Canada’s role in monitoring and reporting on social and demographic trends.
Statistics Canada: 100 Years and Counting will facilitate constructive dialogue between researchers, civil society actors and policy-makers on the challenges and innovations related to measuring identities in Canada.
The Call for Proposals is now open for this event – please share widely! (Follow the link for details.)
