Previous research has shown, unsurprisingly, that employer support for employed caregivers can make a difference in avoiding or lessening negative consequences of balancing work and family caregiving.

A new infographic from Research on Aging, Policies and Practice (RAPP)—a research centre based at the University of Alberta focused on the wellbeing of older adults and family/friend caregivers—highlights how supporting employed caregivers also makes good business sense. Their new data show that flexible work arrangements are associated with talent retention, lower turnover costs and more.

This is the fifth in a series of six infographics RAPP is releasing on caregiving in Canada, produced in collaboration with the Vanier Institute of the Family. They join a large and growing library of knowledge products on caregivers available in the RAPP resource library.

Co-created by Andrew Magnaye, Choong Kim, Jacquie Eales, and Janet Fast, this infographic provides updates to key indicators on working caregivers based on analyses of Statistics Canada’s 2018 General Social Survey on Caregiving and Care Receiving.
