Governance and Finance Coordinator

As the Governance and Finance Coordinator, Chantal Uwamahoro is responsible for providing logistical and records management services to both management and volunteers on the Board of Directors, as well as its related committees, administering payroll, payment, and bookkeeping.

Chantal has three years of experience in bookkeeping and more than five years experience in administration work in the non-profit sector.

As a survivor of war and a mother of three, Chantal is sensitive to the social needs of people and their families that have been marginalized by world system injustices. She has organized and participated in numerous dialogues regarding intergenerational trauma and human rights problems in Cape Town, South Africa at the Human Rights Media Centre. Her passion and goals are to assist and contribute to the wellbeing of families in need.

Chantal has an Honours Degree in Management from University of the Western Cape and a Technical Financial Accounting diploma from the Institute of Qualified Bookkeepers – South Africa, and is a fourth-level student in Business Accounting from Algonquin College in Ottawa.
