The Vanier Institute of the Family is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the next generation of those who study, serve and support families. In collaboration with our university and college partners, we offer students opportunities to build professional capacity, competencies and portfolio content.

An Award for Exceptional Student Contribution to the Vanier Institute has been granted to Professional Writing student Liam Konrad from the Professional Writing program at Algonquin College, who, in addition to his internship, also volunteered throughout summer 2020 with various writing and administrative responsibilities.

An Award for Significant Student Contribution to the Vanier Institute has been granted to Kathya Aathavan, MA, from University of Western Ontario, who worked with the Institute on writing an article that measures couple diversity and conducted statistical research on divorce.

An Award for Outstanding Student Contribution to the Vanier Institute has been granted to Professional Writing student Alex Foster-Petrocco, who wrote articles, research summaries and a book review, as well as co-created an interactive timeline and performed background research for a variety of publications and projects.

An Award for Significant Student Contribution to the Vanier Institute has also been granted to Angel Poon, a design student at MacEwan University, who undertook the 2021 FAMILY MATTERS – Celebrating Family Diversity in Canada project as part of her student placement assignment.

We wish everyone continued success in their future endeavours and thank them for their contribution to expanding and enhancing the national understanding of families in Canada!
