Norma Tombari joined the Vanier Institute’s Board of Directors in June 2016.
Norma is Senior Director, Global Diversity & Inclusion at RBC and has global responsibility for Diversity and Inclusion strategies and programs that impact talent, marketplace and community.
Norma joined RBC in 1978 and held a series of progressively senior roles in administration, operations, lending and human resources. In the late 1990s, she spearheaded the development and implementation of a suite of work–life, flexibility and strategic human resources and workplace solutions policies and programs throughout the organization. Her responsibilities expanded over time to include global diversity and inclusion strategies and employee communications initiatives. She was the architect of the RBC Diversity Blueprint and is a member of the RBC Diversity Leadership Council.
Norma is a member of the U.S. Conference Board’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Executives Council; the Executive Committee for the Conference Board of Canada Council on Workplace Effectiveness; the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Top 100 Awards Advisory Committee; the Canadian Women’s Foundation Girls’ Fund Advisory Committee; and Chair of the Vanier Institute of the Family Work–Life Leadership Circle. She sits on various other bodies that support the inclusion of diverse groups in the workplace and in our communities, and is a member of the Board of Equitas, a not-for-profit agency focused on international human rights and education for youth in Canada. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her many contributions.
Norma holds a bachelor’s degree (B.Com.) in Marketing and Finance from McGill University. She is recognized as a subject matter expert and is often sought out for best practices sharing on diversity, employee engagement and work–life related topics.
